About WPDM - Dropbox Explorer
For anyone selling heavy downloads who doesn't want their hosting to carry them
When a file catalog grows (graphics packs, videos, documentation, installers), the first problem isn't the website design but the disk space and bandwidth of your hosting. And those files are often already in Dropbox, where you manage them every day, so you end up uploading them twice.
WPDM - Dropbox Explorer connects your Dropbox account to WordPress Download Manager so your packages point to those files instead of storing them on your server. It fits if you already use that plugin (or are about to) and your material is, or can be, in Dropbox.
It's not for you if:
- You don't use WordPress Download Manager: it's an add-on and doesn't work on its own.
- You keep your files in Google Drive or another cloud: only Dropbox is covered here.
- You want customers to download the file directly, without landing on the Dropbox page: that requires the Pro version of WordPress Download Manager.
A Dropbox file manager inside your WordPress dashboard
The connection is authorized with OAuth 2.0 and, once done, you get a full-screen explorer in the admin area. It lets you organize your Dropbox without opening another tab.

Pick files while editing the package, without leaving the editor
When you create or edit a download package, a modal window opens with your Dropbox. You can tick several files at once and they are linked to the package immediately. If something is missing, you upload it from the same window, and if you need order, you create the folder right there.
Whole folders so visitors can browse them
If you attach a folder instead of a file, visitors can walk through its subfolders on the package page and download files one by one. It's useful for document libraries, course material or large resource collections.

Yes, with the Pro version of WordPress Download Manager, which allows direct download.
What happens if I change a file in Dropbox?
The change is reflected on your site, because the package points to the Dropbox file and not to a copy on your server.
