A brand that needs a logo enters your portfolio with one specific question: whether you have already done something like theirs. If they find it in two clicks, they keep reading. If they have to walk through thirty mixed pieces of photography, illustration and web work, they leave without knowing you had done it.

That is why the portfolio layout is an editorial decision, and it depends on how many pieces you have and how different they are from each other. Zugan is a minimal WordPress portfolio theme from RadiusTheme, intended for designers, photographers and anyone who wants to sell their work with WooCommerce. It includes 36 portfolio layouts, a figure that only pays off if you pick one by that criterion.

How to choose among Zugan's 36 layouts

There are four families of nine variants each. It is worth deciding by your material before looking at the design:

• Isotope, if you do several kinds of work. In Portfolio Isotope 1, category buttons above the grid let visitors see only what interests them.
• Masonry, if your pieces come in different formats. The layout accepts thumbnails of different heights.
• Grid, if your series is uniform. The regular grid organises a set of same-format projects well.
• Slider, if you have a few strong projects. Visitors move through the pieces in turn instead of seeing them in a grid.

What else Zugan includes besides the portfolio

• Ten multi-page home pages and three one-page ones, all ready to import.
• Inner pages for about us, about me, team, clients, three blog listings, shop and product.
• More than 30 block styles and custom Elementor widgets.

What Zugan leaves in your hands

Forms and the newsletter are separate. Contact Form 7, Mail Chimp and Instagram Feed are optional plugins, as are WooCommerce and the slider plugin.

Choosing what to show is still your job. Its features do not include watermarks or image review with the client.

The demo does not arrive identical. Some of its images are replaced by placeholders, and the import replaces all existing settings and content. Run it only on a fresh install.

From required plugins to your first layout

The latest stable version of WordPress is recommended, and Elementor has its own WordPress and PHP minimums, worth checking before installing. The required plugins are Zugan Core, RT Framework and Redux Framework. Elementor is the recommended builder, and RT Demo Importer is only needed to import the demo.

1. Upload the theme from Appearance, activate it and install the plugins under Appearance, Install Plugins.
2. Run the import from Tools, Demo Content Install, on a freshly installed site.
3. Go to Settings, Permalinks and save without changing anything.
4. Pick a single portfolio layout and replace the sample content with your best projects.

When Zugan is not the portfolio you need

Can I sell my work with Zugan?

Yes. It is compatible with WooCommerce and includes shop and product pages, although WooCommerce is installed as a separate plugin.

Does it work for a one-page site?

Yes. It includes three one-page home pages, versions of Home 1, Home 2 and Home 6.

Can I filter projects by category?

Yes, in Portfolio Isotope 1 the category buttons appear above the grid. Check the variant you choose.
