About Gravity Perks Conditional Logic Dates
A deadline that depends on your memory ends late
Your early registration ends on the last day of the month. The date arrives and someone has to go into Gravity Forms to change the price or remove a field. Until they do, the form keeps offering yesterday's deal. The same goes for a weekend notice or an option that only applies in certain months.
Every date that lives in your calendar instead of in the form keeps someone on watch. When the rule sits inside the form, it evaluates on its own against the relevant date and time.
Conditional Logic Dates is a Gravity Perks perk that lets you use Date and Time fields in Gravity Forms conditional logic, so what happens in the form can depend on dates and times.
Fixed, relative and recurring dates in the same rule
A rule can compare against these references:
- Fixed date: a specific day, typed into the rule.
- Relative date: the
{today}tag with modifiers. With{today:+2 weeks}you check that the chosen date is at least two weeks away, and with{today:-90 days}, that it is no more than 90 days before today. - Current date: the Δ Current Date option shows or hides fields based on the present day.
- Day of the week: from
{monday}to{sunday}. Combined with Any or All, they separate weekends from weekdays. - Wildcard: the asterisk stands in for the day, month or year. So
*/05/*is the 5th of any month.
Comparisons use four operators: is, is not, greater than and less than. Times work the same way: you compare a Time field with a fixed time or with Δ Current Time.
Rules work in fields, notifications, confirmations and any feed. Together with Conditional Pricing, they adjust a product's price by date.
Time zone and format, the two details that change the result
The time zone is the server's. If you sell to several countries, the midnight cutoff follows that clock. The gpcld_use_visitor_timezone filter switches comparisons to the visitor's zone, which helps with course deadlines or appointments in local time. It is code, not a settings checkbox.
The format is American. Dates are written MM/DD/YYYY, and times hh:mm am or hh:mm pm. In a rule, 05/03 means May 3, even if your country reads it the other way around.
Four jobs this perk leaves to other pieces
It does not work without Gravity Forms. It adds rules to that form plugin's conditional logic.
It does not change prices on its own. For that it is combined with Conditional Pricing.
The date picker is another piece. Blocking days in the field's calendar is not among its features: that belongs to Limit Dates.
It does not schedule sends. A rule decides whether a notification goes out. When it goes out is Notification Scheduler's job.
Your first date rule, step by step
With Gravity Forms and the perk active, a rule is built like this:
- Add a Date or Time field if you will compare what the user chooses.
- Open the field you want to show or hide and enable Conditional Logic.
- Choose that field, Δ Current Date or Δ Current Time as the source.
- Select the operator and type the value, in MM/DD/YYYY format or with a tag such as
{today}. - Add more rules if needed and decide whether all of them or any of them must be met.
- Test the form with dates on both sides of the limit before publishing it.
Neighboring perks for deadlines and prices
Gravity Perks Limit Dates works on the picker: it sets minimum and maximum dates and decides which days of the week can be chosen. It fits when the problem is the date the user enters, not what should happen afterward.
Gravity Perks Conditional Pricing creates several price levels in a single product field, and is used with this perk for date-based prices.
Gravity Perks Notification Scheduler controls when notifications are sent.
Concrete cases with dates in forms
Does it work for early registration prices?
Yes, combined with Conditional Pricing, which applies the price according to the date rule.
How do I show a field only on weekends?
Compare a Date field with {saturday} and {sunday} and make it enough to meet one of the two rules.
Can I require minimum lead time on a booking?
Yes. A rule with {today:+2 weeks} checks that the chosen date is at least two weeks away.
Can it coexist with Advanced Conditional Logic?
Not at the same time. Once activated, Advanced Conditional Logic deactivates this perk and takes over the rules.
