About Responsive Menu Pro

Your theme decides the mobile menu, and changing it costs CSS

On a phone, the menu is almost all of your site's navigation, yet its look is usually imposed by the theme: a list of links with no search, no logo and no way to change colors or animations unless you touch CSS, create a child theme or call a developer. And when you change theme, the menu goes with it.

Responsive Menu Pro is a plugin that replaces that mobile menu with one you design yourself. You pick a WordPress menu, see how it looks in a phone, tablet and desktop preview that updates as you adjust, and you never edit CSS. It works with any theme that uses WordPress menus.

The wizard has three steps: you choose the menu (or create one), start from a ready-made design or a blank one, and tell it which theme menu to hide so visitors only see the new one. After that you can fine-tune every detail in the editor.

Slide-out panel, header bar or mega menu: choose your Responsive Menu Pro style

The plugin brings several navigation formats together in one, so you don't need a different plugin for each screen:

  • Slide-out menu: off-canvas navigation that slides in from the side you choose.
  • Header bar: logo, title, search and your own content above the page.
  • Desktop menu and mega menu: the same tool for mobile and computer.
  • Search and icons: a search box, font icons and social links inside the menu.
  • Pre-built themes: start from a finished design and customize it, with fonts, sub-menus and colors with transparency.
  • Menus by user and role: different items depending on who is looking.

Pro includes, among other things, the header bar, the desktop and mega menu, 26 button animations, icons on each item, locking page scroll while the menu is open, and rules to show or hide the menu by page and by device.

One menu for members and another for visitors

If you run a shop or a membership site, the menu shouldn't be the same for someone with an account as for someone arriving for the first time. You can hide items from logged-in or logged-out users, and show others only to the roles you choose. That way the customer sees "My account" and the newcomer sees "Sign up", without duplicating menus in the theme.

You can also place call, email and social links in the menu itself, handy if your business depends on people contacting you from their phone. There is an Elementor integration, and the plugin includes keyboard and screen-reader support. If you work with a staging site, the menu can be copied to other sites: export it from one and import it into another. And since the design belongs to the plugin, not the theme, it stays when you change theme.

Is the free mobile menu enough, or do you need Responsive Menu Pro?

The free version already builds your mobile menu with the live editor, pre-built themes, fonts, sub-menus, search, logo and title, and it can hide the theme's original menu. Move to Pro if you want a desktop menu or mega menu, a header bar, animations, icons on items, rules by page or device, scroll lock or a multilingual menu.

Keep in mind that the plugin starts from a menu created in WordPress: if your theme draws its navigation another way, it's not the ideal case. It also doesn't write your links or decide your site structure, it only changes how they are presented. And you must tell it which theme menu to hide, or visitors will see two.

Does it work with my theme or with Elementor?

With any theme that uses WordPress menus, and it has an Elementor integration.

Can I show different items to members and guests?

Yes: you can hide items depending on whether the visitor is logged in, and show them only to specific roles.

Is it suitable for multilingual sites?

Yes, in Pro: it works with WPML and Polylang, so the menu changes with the visitor's language.

Can I try it first?

Yes: there is a free version with the live editor and the basic menu features, plus a demo on the official site.
