About Search and Filter Pro Plugin (incluye addons)

A filter is not stuck on a page, it connects to a query

Your shop or directory already has the data: brand, area, year, price, all stored in taxonomies and custom fields. Visitors cannot use it. They walk through archive pages until they tire.

What surprises people when setting up Search & Filter Pro is where the work begins. Filtering is not about adding a widget, it is about deciding which query draws your listing and connecting fields to it. The plugin revolves around those two pieces: queries, which determine what content is shown, and fields, the controls visitors use to narrow that content.

That is why the first question is what generates your listing: the WooCommerce shop, a Query Loop block or an element from your page builder.

What Pro adds to the free base

  • Results without reloading: Live Search updates the listing on the same page and can reflect the filter state in the address, so the browser back and forward buttons restore it.
  • Fields that do not lead to nothing: dynamic fields stop offering options with no results.
  • Autocomplete and ranges: suggestions as you type, and ranges as a select, as radio buttons or with a slider.
  • Indexer: keeps complex forms and queries fast.
  • Deep ACF support: filters from repeater fields, flexible content, subgroups and relationship fields.

WooCommerce, ACF and the page builders it understands

For ecommerce it works with WooCommerce (shop, collections block and products shortcode), Easy Digital Downloads and WP eCommerce. Page builders include Elementor, Beaver Builder, Bricks, Divi, Avada, WPBakery and GenerateBlocks. For data, ACF, Pods and Meta Box. For languages, WPML and Polylang. And to strengthen search, Relevanssi.

Several of these connections are extensions, plugins separate from Pro. The Beaver Builder one, for example, installs from the integrations screen. Check that the extension for your page builder is in your download before counting on it.

Required free plugin, pending fields and CSS selectors

Pro does not work alone. Every install needs the free plugin and the Pro plugin together.

It does not create data. Filters are built from what already exists, so a product with no brand assigned will not appear when filtering by brand.

Some field types are missing. There is no star rating, color picker or maps, so a color swatch filter does not come from here.

Sometimes you have to supply CSS selectors. Some integrations tell Live Search on their own which area to refresh. If yours does not, set a unique selector: if it appears several times on the page, it does not update.

Moving from version 2 to 3 takes work. Forms must be relinked to the new fields, and the Archive display method goes away.

How to build your first filter

Before you begin, identify the listing you want to filter. From there:

  1. Install and activate the free plugin and the Pro plugin.
  2. In the Search & Filter menu, open Queries and create a query. The Autodetect option in the Location tab works for a basic setup.
  3. Create the fields from that query's Fields tab, so they are assigned to it.
  4. Place everything on the page: with blocks, a Query Loop pointing to your query and one Reusable Field per field; with shortcodes, one for the results and one for each field.
  5. Turn on Live Search and test real combinations of filters.

FacetWP, WP Grid Builder and JetSmartFilters to compare

FacetWP filters post types, custom fields and taxonomies with its own index table, and includes geolocation proximity. WP Grid Builder proposes something else, because besides the filter it builds the grid, with a visual card editor and more than 20 facet types.

Another option is JetSmartFilters. And for stronger search, Relevanssi Premium is the higher edition of Relevanssi, the engine this plugin integrates with.

Elementor, Divi, Bricks and color swatches

Does it work with Elementor?

Yes, it filters loop grids and products. The connection with that page builder comes in an extension, so check it is in your download.

Does it work with Divi or Bricks?

Yes. In Divi it filters the Blog, Shop, Portfolio and Loop elements, and in Bricks the Query Loops, Posts, Products, Sliders and Accordions. Both connections come in extensions.

Can I filter by color with swatches?

There is no color picker. You can use selects, checkboxes, radio buttons or buttons.
