About WooCommerce Photography
Uploading a thousand photos by hand is a different job, and not yours
A photographer selling online faces a problem that has nothing to do with the camera: every image is a WooCommerce product, and creating products one by one when you get back from an event with hundreds or thousands of files eats up hours, or days. WooCommerce Photography targets that bottleneck with a batch uploader and a way to organize photos into collections inside your store.
What WooCommerce Photography does for each type of seller
Event photographer
This is the profile where it makes the most sense. You upload photos in large batches, group them by collection (a wedding, a race, a graduation) and the customer logs in to their account to see the available collections. The uploader is designed for hundreds or thousands of images at once.
Art or studio photographer
If you sell artwork, whether prints or digital files, you can present the catalog by collections and let the purchase go through the standard WooCommerce checkout, which your customers already know. You don't have to set up a separate sales system.
Store already running WooCommerce
If you already sell other products, this plugin adds to what you have instead of replacing it. It is compatible with WooCommerce's high-performance order storage (HPOS).
How buying works: collections, customer account and WooCommerce checkout
The buyer's experience revolves around two things: browsing collections and paying through the standard WooCommerce flow. Customers see the list of available collections from their My Account screen.
It works for both digital images and physical prints. For digital downloads it relies on the download handling WooCommerce already includes, so review how it works before launching your store.
Watermarks and delivering originals: what you will have to solve yourself
This is where most buyers get a surprise. Some user reviews point out the same thing, so it is best to be clear from the start:
- It does not include watermarking. If you want to protect your images, you need a third-party plugin.
- If you watermark your images, only the watermarked ones can be downloaded. You would have to deliver the unmarked originals by hand after the purchase.
- There are manual adjustments. Some users report having to edit image products one by one to enable digital download, that images get resized on upload, and that the gallery layout needed custom CSS.
- Uploading can be slow. It is also mentioned that you cannot pick images already in the media library.
If your business depends on delivering unmarked originals after payment, run the full process with a few photos before uploading your entire archive.
Frequently asked questions before buying
Can I sell prints and digital downloads?
Yes, it works for both. For digital files, WooCommerce's download handling is used.
Does it handle large libraries?
The batch uploader is designed for hundreds or even thousands of photos at once, which is why it suits event photographers.
Does it include watermarking?
No. You need a separate plugin, and you should check how the unmarked file is delivered after purchase.
Do I need WooCommerce?
Yes, it is a WooCommerce extension and does not work without it. Purchases go through its usual checkout.
It requires WooCommerce and some setup of your own
It is not a standalone gallery: it depends on an active WooCommerce store. Expect some time adjusting categories, downloads and styles before it looks the way you want, especially if you are after a polished visual gallery.
