About WP Job Manager - Go Fetch Jobs (Premium)
Nobody posts on an empty job board, and nobody looks for work on one
You open your portal with WP Job Manager and the front page shows three listings. Companies will not pay to appear on a site with no candidates, and candidates do not come back to a site with no jobs. That loop holds back a board that is starting out.
Importing jobs solves the launch, not the business: it gives you volume today, and that volume serves to attract the companies that will post directly with you. Go Fetch Jobs is the importer for that first stretch. It brings jobs into WP Job Manager from RSS feeds, provider APIs, ATS systems and XML or JSON files, and merges them with the ones employers post.
An imported job carries someone else's data and can send the application to another site.
Where it gets the jobs from
- RSS: more than 30 preset providers and any valid RSS feed, with an integrated feed builder on select providers.
- APIs: Adzuna, WhatJobs, Careerjet, The Muse, Working Nomads and Remotive, among others.
- ATS: Greenhouse, JazzHR and Recruitee.
- Files: your own XML and JSON, with a field mapper for custom formats.
APIs and XML and JSON files belong to the Professional plan, and ATS to Business. Check in your install which sources appear as available before counting on one. To use an API you also have to apply as a publisher with each provider.
What you decide on each import
- Classification: categories and job types, with Smart Assign to set them automatically.
- Defaults: custom fields and a placeholder logo for jobs with no image.
- Expiry: an expiry date for what you import, with optional auto-deletion of expired jobs.
- Filters: include or exclude jobs by keyword, as well as filter on the feed fields.
- Duplicates: it looks for repeated jobs inside feeds and can replace existing ones from the same feed.
- Templates: they store the source, mappings, defaults and filters for reuse.
With a saved template, schedules repeat the import hourly, daily or weekly, or at the interval you set.
Why an imported job falls short of one posted with you
Only what the source provides arrives. Some providers include only an excerpt in their feeds, and details such as the logo, company or location that do appear on their site may be missing. On select providers the plugin fills in data from the job page.
The application can leave your site. The imported job keeps the source's application URL, and whoever applies through it ends up on the source site.
Indeed is out. It stopped providing RSS feeds, so that route no longer works for filling the portal.
It works on top of WP Job Manager. It imports jobs into an existing board, and the portal, company job submission and each listing page stay in that plugin's hands.
From WP Job Manager to your first scheduled import
You need WP Job Manager active, and a publisher account if you will use an API. After activating Go Fetch Jobs its menu appears in the sidebar. The route is this:
- Choose a preset provider or paste your feed URL.
- Review the job preview before importing.
- Assign category, job type, expiry and keyword filters.
- Save it all as a template.
- Create a schedule with that template and check the first batch on the front page.
WP All Import, JobSearch and Cariera for your portal
WP All Import Pro bulk imports jobs into WP Job Manager with its add-on for that plugin, and schedules the imports.
If you are still choosing the base for the portal, the catalog also has JobSearch WP Job Board and the Cariera theme.
Jobs, sources and timing in the importer
Can I mix imported jobs with those from my companies?
Yes. Imported jobs are merged with the ones employers submit, and can be filtered separately.
Why do my jobs show a cut-off description?
Because the feed carries only an excerpt. The plugin imports what the source delivers.
Does any job feed work?
Any valid RSS. JSON and non-standard XML need the Professional or Business plan.
Can I bring in jobs from my ATS?
Greenhouse, JazzHR and Recruitee are supported on the Business plan.
Does it import Indeed jobs?
No. Indeed stopped providing RSS feeds.
