About YITH Payment Method Restrictions Premium For WooCommerce

Built for shops where not every payment method suits every order

Offering the same payment methods across the whole catalog is often expensive: fees that eat a small order, cash on delivery in countries where parcels end up uncollected, or a bank transfer for a product you need to be paid for right away. This plugin is for anyone who wants to decide which gateways each customer sees based on what is in the cart. It is not for you if you want to add new gateways: it only restricts the ones you already have active in WooCommerce. It does not change prices or calculate fees either; it simply shows or hides methods at checkout.

Rules that hide a gateway when a condition is met

You create a restriction rule for any of the active gateways and give it one or more conditions. When they are met, the gateway disappears from checkout. The available conditions are:

  • The cart contains specific products, products from certain categories or with certain tags.
  • The cart total is lower than, equal to or higher than an amount.
  • The customer belongs to one or more countries.
  • The customer has a given role, and can even be a guest without an account.

A practical example: removing PayPal on small orders or for certain products, or hiding cash on delivery in countries where it gives you trouble.

How YITH Payment Method Restrictions decides the customer's country

For country rules you can choose between IP geolocation or the billing country. It is worth thinking about this beforehand: the IP may not match the buyer's real country (for example, if they use a VPN), while the billing country is what the customer types in. Choose based on which risk you want to avoid.

Several bank accounts depending on the order

If you collect payments by bank transfer, the plugin can change the account shown depending on the conditions you have set. It is useful, for example, to separate payments for different product lines into different accounts. If you have a single account, this part adds nothing for you.

Telling the customer why a method is missing

A customer who cannot find their usual method tends to leave. You can show a custom message at checkout that only appears when the rule applies and the gateway has been removed. Use it to explain the reason, for example a minimum amount, and to suggest another way to pay. Shop managers can also manage these restrictions without being administrators.

Limits you should keep in mind

  • It only acts on gateways that are already installed; it does not create or configure them.
  • It works on WooCommerce, not on other store systems.
  • It is compatible with WPML for multilingual shops.
  • Rules apply at checkout; they do not change the catalog or prices.

Frequently asked questions

Can I remove a gateway for just one specific product?

Yes. You create a rule and set that product, or its category or tag, as the condition.

Does it work with customers without an account?

Yes. When defining conditions by role you can include guests.

Can I restrict by cart amount?

Yes, by setting the range of values in the rule itself.

Can I restrict by type of customer?

Yes, through the user roles in the rule's conditions.

Can I explain to the customer why they don't see a method?

Yes, with a custom message that only appears when the rule applies.
