About GamiPress - Easy Digital Downloads Discounts
A discount on all products includes the ones that do not exist yet
You want to reward whoever completes an achievement with a discount in your downloads store. The question comes when you choose the scope: a closed list of products or the whole store.
If the discount applies to all downloads and you only note exceptions, every product you publish tomorrow enters the discount without you touching it; with a list of chosen products, the new one stays out until you add it.
GamiPress Easy Digital Downloads Discounts is a GamiPress add-on that grants a discount to users who meet all the requirements of an achievement. The discount is applied automatically to the Easy Digital Downloads cart, and it is configured on each achievement's edit screen.
What is configured on each achievement
The achievement screen shows a box called "Award a discount", turned on with a checkbox. Its fields are these:
- Discount type: fixed price or percentage.
- Amount: a number, with no currency or percent symbol.
- Apply to all downloads: if you check it, a field appears to exclude the downloads that should not be discounted.
- Downloads: if you leave the previous option unchecked, you choose here the downloads that do receive the discount.
- Maximum uses: cap on total uses. With 0 there is no limit.
- Maximum uses per user: cap per person. With 0 there is no limit.
- Label: the text shown on the cart's fees.
The price is updated in the store showing the old and the new price. In the admin area the discount is not shown.
Announcing the discount on the achievement page
The add-on adds the downloads_discounts parameter to the achievement shortcode, which accepts "yes" and "no" and defaults to "yes". The achievement widget has an equivalent option called "Show Discounts".
Before the achievement is earned, the page shows the list of products that will be discounted and the amount. After it is earned, it shows the discounts the person can use.
Requirements of the achievement and the store
Users get the discount when they meet all the achievement's requirements, not just part of them. Among its features there are no discounts granted by hand to a specific user outside of an achievement.
The add-on depends on GamiPress and works with the Easy Digital Downloads cart. To use EDD actions as an achievement requirement, you also need the GamiPress integration with Easy Digital Downloads.
Getting it running
It requires GamiPress and Easy Digital Downloads. To get started:
- Install the add-on with the WordPress installer and activate it.
- Open the achievement you want to reward and find the "Award a discount" box.
- Check the box, choose the type and enter the amount.
- Decide the scope: all downloads with exceptions, or a list of downloads.
- Set the maximum uses and the uses per user, or leave them at 0 for no limit.

Can the discount be a percentage?
Yes. You can choose percentage or fixed price.
Can I limit how many times it is used?
Yes, both in total and per user. With the value 0 there is no limit.
Can I exclude products?
Yes. When applying to all downloads, there is a field to indicate which ones are left out.
Is the discount visible on the site?
Yes. The price is updated showing the old and the new one.
