About Gravity Perks Price Range
The range limits what is typed in a field, not the form total
An organization asks for donations with a field where each person types what they want to give. You set a minimum so that token amounts do not arrive and a maximum to avoid an extra zero by mistake. Then you add a fixed-price T-shirt to the form, and the total no longer matches what you set.
A price range applies to one specific field, and the form total remains the sum of every field with a price.
Gravity Forms Price Range is a Gravity Perks perk that adds a minimum and maximum to product fields of the user defined price type, the typical pay-what-you-want, donation or tip fields. If what is typed falls outside the range, the form returns a validation error.
What exactly it adjusts
- Minimum and maximum: set for product fields with a user defined price.
- Inside the field: the settings appear in the Gravity Forms product field's own interface, in a perks tab.
- Validation: if the amount falls outside the range, the submission does not pass and an error is shown.
- Messages: the error text can be customized with code.
- Variable ranges: the minimum or maximum can depend on another field's value, through code snippets.
- Hooks for development: gppr_price_range_min, gppr_price_range_max and gppr_validation_messages filter the minimum, the maximum and the messages.
- Translation: it can be translated with the free Loco Translate plugin.
It also works with the Gravity PDF Invoicing templates, which integrate with other Gravity Perks perks for invoices with prices.
A free donation with a floor and a ceiling
Suppose a donation form with a single free-price product field. You set a minimum and a maximum in the perks tab and save. An amount below the minimum or above the maximum returns the validation error, and one inside the range passes.
If the form includes other products, those fields do not enter the range. This is just one way of using it; change it to suit your form.
Only the user defined price
The perk acts only on product fields with a user defined price. Among its functions there is no range for other product field types, and variable ranges are done with code snippets.
If an Amount Mismatch error appears or the payment fails, check that the submitted and displayed totals are equal and that all product fields and their choices have a price, and set 0 on any that have none.
