When renewal is automatic, the customer can go months without coming back to your store. What they get from you is a series of emails: the renewed order, the invoice, the price change, the end of the free trial, the payment being retried, the subscription expiring.

In a subscription business, those notices are a good part of the relationship with the customer. If you already take care of your order email design with YayMail, this add-on brings the WooCommerce Subscriptions emails into that same drag-and-drop editor, so billing and cancellation messages look like the rest of the store.

Sixteen types of email move into the editor

The templates you can customize cover the whole life of a subscription:

• Renewal: New Renewal Order, Processing Renewal Order and Customer Renewal Invoice.
• Subscription changes: Subscription Switched, Subscription Status and Subscription Price Updated.
• Cancellations and interruptions: Subscription Cancelled, Subscription Suspended and Subscription Expired.
• Billing: Payment Retry Templates.
• Reminders: Trial Ending Reminder, Auto Renewal Reminder, Manual Renewal Reminder and Expiry Reminder.
• Shipping: Processing Shipping Fulfillment Order and Subscription Shipping Frequency Notification.

The list combines emails from WooCommerce Subscriptions and from Enhancer for WooCommerce Subscriptions, so the templates you see depend on what you have installed.

Blocks that pull in each subscriber's data

The editor has more than 20 design elements and WooCommerce blocks. The subscription ones take their data from WooCommerce Subscriptions:

• Dedicated elements: Woo Subscription Information, New Subscription Details, Woo Subscription Suspend and Woo Subscription Expired, among others, with personal information for each recipient.
• Availability by template: compatible elements are enabled according to the email you are editing, and the rest are disabled automatically.
• Filtered shortcodes: the Shortcode section shows only those that work in that template.
• Preview with real data: you choose an order number and see the email with that subscriber's information.
• Test email: sent from the editor itself.

Three required plugins and one enabled template

The add-on runs on this foundation:

• WooCommerce and WooCommerce Subscriptions, both required.
• YayMail, in its free or Pro version. It is the builder the add-on relies on.
• Enhancer for WooCommerce Subscriptions, optional, for its additional emails and shortcodes.

With everything installed, the process is this:

1. Open WooCommerce > Email Customizer.
2. Choose the subscription template you want to edit.
3. Build the email with the available elements and add the shortcodes you need.
4. Preview it with a real order and send a test.
5. Enable the template and save. Without that step, the changes do not take effect.

It handles the message design, not the subscription

This add-on does not create subscriptions or charge renewals: that work stays in WooCommerce Subscriptions, and without it there is nothing to customize. Its features do not include settings for deciding when each notice goes out either.

There is also data that comes from YayMail Pro and not from this add-on: shipment tracking information, order status, custom fields and advanced checkout fields.

Three questions from current YayMail users

Do I need YayMail Pro?

Not to use the add-on: it works with free YayMail or with Pro. Pro is only needed for data such as shipment tracking.

Does it work for SUMO Subscriptions?

No. SUMO and YITH have their own YayMail add-ons.

I designed an email and the customer still gets the old one. What is missing?

Check that the template is enabled and saved. In the template settings, a green light shows that YayMail is using it in the WooCommerce email workflow.
