About EventOn RSVP Events Addon
When signing up is free, your number is made of promises
You open a free day event, the list fills up and you order chairs and food for everyone who said yes. That number is not attendance: it is the sum of people for whom confirming cost nothing. The value of a confirmation system lies in bringing it closer to the people who actually walk through the door.
RSVP Events adds attendance confirmation without payments to EventON. The guest leaves a name, email and number of spaces, and the organizer gets a living list: each person can correct their answer, RSVPs close when you decide and check-in shows who arrived. Comparing both figures, event after event, gives you your own number for the next order.
The form and the rules of each RSVP
- Where it appears: in a lightbox popup or inside the event card, with a colorful or clean design.
- Who responds: logged-in users or guests, depending on your settings. You can require login across the site or on a specific event.
- Fields: the standard ones turn on or off, and there are up to 5 additional ones, such as single-line text, multiple lines or a dropdown.
- Groups: a primary guest RSVPs for the whole group, with a maximum number of spaces per response.
- Closing: RSVPs end the number of minutes you choose before the start.
- Capacity by date: on a repeating event, each repeat has its own limit.
- Minimum attendance: it can be set and shown to guests.
Reserved information, such as access to a virtual event, can be shown only after RSVP and sent by email.
What the organizer has at hand
- Data on the event edit page: quick stats and RSVP settings.
- Attendees lightbox: lookup, details of each response and check-in.
- Emails: to those attending, those not attending and everyone signed up, with a preview. The attendee list can also be sent to someone else.
- CSV export from the event edit page, including the additional fields.
- Daily digest email with RSVP counts and remaining spaces.
- Webhooks on each RSVP and each check-in, for example to Zapier.
Guests see who is coming and who is not, with initials or full names, and from the front-end manager they look up their response by email or by logging in and change their status.
No payments and no waitlist included
Selling spaces takes another piece, and these features are separate add-ons:
- RSVP Events Waitlist: a queue for when the event fills up.
- RSVP Events Invitees: only the people you choose can RSVP.
- Reminders: up to two reminders before the event and two after, turned on for each event and subject to WordPress cron.
EventON as the base and a first RSVP
You need EventON installed and a site that meets its basic requirements. Then:
- Activate the add-on and review its settings under EventON, RSVP.
- In the RSVP Form tab, decide which fields you ask for and turn on the additional ones you need.
- Edit an event, turn on RSVP and save.
- Set the capacity, the maximum spaces per response and when it closes.
- Send a test RSVP and check the email that arrives.
The email is customized by copying its template into the eventon/templates/email/rsvp/ folder of your theme.
Event Tickets for charging and the Modern Events Calendar route
It requires the EventON calendar. If your event charges, EventON Event Tickets sells tickets from the event card, with WooCommerce as the store and checkout.
If you have not chosen a calendar yet, Modern Events Calendar has its own add-on, RSVP Events, with yes, no and maybe answers and the option of a custom form for each. It does not process payments either.
Questions from people running free events
Can it charge for attendance?
No. It records RSVPs without payments. For selling tickets there is EventON Event Tickets.
Can one person RSVP for their family?
Yes. A primary guest responds for the whole group, within the maximum spaces you set.
Does it work for a weekly workshop with different limits?
Yes. On repeating events, capacity is set for each repeat.
